Some wedding inquiries just feel extra special, and Kaitlyn and Travis' was definitely one of them. When Kaitlyn reached out, I realized we had actually gone to high school together! It's always such a full-circle moment when life reconnects you with people years later, and it made documenting their wedding day that much more meaningful.
Their wedding took place at The Old Barns at Dry Run Farms, and if you're newly engaged and searching for the perfect Central Ohio wedding venue, this is one you absolutely need to tour. Every single corner of the property is beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and truly picture-perfect. No matter where we turned, there was another gorgeous backdrop just waiting for photos. It's one of those venues that photographs beautifully from beginning to end.
Leading up to the wedding, the forecast wasn't exactly promising. Rain was expected throughout the day, and we were all keeping a close eye on the weather. Thankfully, everything worked out perfectly. The rain held off, the skies cleared at just the right time, and Kaitlyn and Travis were able to have the outdoor ceremony they had envisioned. It couldn't have been a more beautiful day.
One of my favorite parts of the morning was capturing all of Kaitlyn's thoughtful details. I always love photographing the little things because they're often filled with so much meaning. From sentimental keepsakes to carefully chosen heirlooms, every detail tells a piece of a couple's story, and those are the images that become even more treasured over time.
And can we take a moment to talk about Kaitlyn's dress? Holy moly—it was absolutely stunning. The way it flowed with every step and caught the breeze so effortlessly made it feel like something out of a dream. It photographed beautifully from every angle, and I already knew those portraits were going to be some of my favorites from the day.
One thing I absolutely loved about Kaitlyn and Travis' timeline was their decision to skip having a bridal party. Every wedding is different, and there is no right or wrong way to plan your day, but choosing to forgo a bridal party gave us so much extra time together. Some of my favorite moments happened during that quiet time when couples can simply be together and soak in the excitement of finally being married.
After the ceremony and cocktail hour, everyone gathered inside the reception space to celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs. The Old Barns at Dry Run Farms creates such a beautiful atmosphere for a reception, and it was the perfect place for family and friends to relax, celebrate, and enjoy the evening together. There was so much joy in the room, and once the dance floor opened, everyone was ready to celebrate!
One of my favorite parts of the evening was sneaking away for golden hour portraits. As the sun began to set, the property was covered in the dreamiest, golden light that made everything feel so romantic. These are always some of my favorite moments of the day because everything slows down for just a few minutes. It's a chance for couples to step away from the celebration, soak in the fact that they're finally married, and simply enjoy being together.
Can we also talk about Kaitlyn's veil for a second? She found this gorgeous cathedral-length veil on Facebook Marketplace for just $20—yes, really! I never would have guessed it. It looked absolutely incredible, especially during golden hour. Between the soft breeze, the warm sunset light, and the way the veil flowed behind her, it created some of the dreamiest images from the entire day. It just goes to show that you don't have to spend a fortune to create something absolutely breathtaking.
Before long, it was time to head back inside where the celebration continued. Friends and family packed the dance floor, laughed, celebrated, and soaked up every last minute of the evening. It was the perfect ending to such a beautiful wedding day.
Kaitlyn and Travis, thank you for trusting me to capture one of the biggest days of your lives. It was such an honor to reconnect after all these years and witness the beginning of this new chapter together. I truly couldn't be happier for the two of you!
