MY SISTER HAD A BABY!!
It's been almost one whole year since my sister had her baby, but this deserves a spot on the blog because it's so so special to me.
There are moments in life that are so beautiful, so special, that words can barely do them justice. The birth of my nephew was one of those moments, and being there to document it felt like such a deep privilege. As a photographer, I’m used to documenting moments for other people, but being there with my sister on the day she became a mom, holding her sweet baby boy for the first time....Yes, I cried a little. The amount of love I have for my sister and now nephew is immeasurable and that moment is something is truly something that I'll never forget. You know that feeling where it feels like your heart swells up so much in your chest that you might burst because your heart is filled with so much love in that moment? That's what happened seeing my sister hold her baby. I will treasure forever that entire day forever.
I still remember the excitement and nerves of that day as if it were yesterday. The entire experience was emotional. I remember holding her through contractions, being someone to squeeze when contractions were painful, someone to cry on when labor got tough, rubbing her back where she needed in hopes to find relief, and trying my best to encourage her through it all. To watch her go through this and watch her overcome everything that she did that day-she is a warrior, she is strong, she is more capable than she realizes, and she is truly a mother who will fight for what's best her baby.

A couple of weeks later, I was back with my camera in hand, ready to take lifestyle newborn photos. From his head to his tiny hands and feet, every little detail was simply breathtaking. My goal was to capture not just the sweet little features of this new life, but also the bond between him and his family—the smiles, the quiet moments of love shared between my sister, her husband, and their new son.
As I clicked away, I marveled at how quickly time was passing. It felt like just the day before when my sister and I were anxiously waiting for his arrival, and now here he was—this perfect, beautiful baby who was already changing every day. The photoshoot was a way for me to freeze those fleeting moments in time, to preserve them for my sister because, as a mom myself, I know time moves way too fast.
Being a photographer, I have had the privilege of capturing so many precious moments for clients, but capturing my nephew's first pictures felt incredibly personal. It wasn’t just about snapping a picture—it was about documenting the love, the joy, and the connection that only family can truly understand. Every smile, every tiny detail, every little wrinkle on his soft skin was a reminder of the incredible miracle of life.
Photography has always been about more than just taking pictures for me. It’s about telling stories, preserving moments, and creating lasting memories. And for me, capturing my nephew’s baby pictures has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had as a photographer. It’s not just a job; it’s an honor.
As he grows and becomes his own person, I know that these photos will remain a reminder of his first moments, and of the incredible love and connection that surrounds him. I can’t wait to continue capturing his milestones, and maybe one day, he’ll look back on these images and see just how much love went into every click of the camera.
